We'll soon be leaving this lovely home we've lived

We'll soon be leaving this lovely home we've lived in, loved, and raised our children for the past 17 years. The one where our youngest was born and where we've said goodbye to both Matt's parents in recent years. 😭❤️

But now it's on to a new chapter for us.

We're hoping to find a house that better suits Avonléa's needs—preferably one without so many steps and stairs. ☺️ A place with wide halls and wide doors. (Not something you think about much until you have a child in a wheelchair!)

And we hope it will be a place of sweet refuge and gentle hospitality. 🤗

That's our prayer, and we're waiting to see how God might answer our request—trusting our Heavenly Father who gives good gifts. 🙏🏼

Oh, and while I'm here, I'll also add that I'm going off Instagram for the rest of the summer! ☀️

Although I'll miss the wonderful community here, I feel God nudging me to enjoy some quiet and settle in our new home, wherever that ends up being.

So here's to looking forward to new things and coming back in September!

When I was at the end of myself, God poured His love into me.

When others claimed what I gave wasn’t enough, God spoke differently.

When I read these words from Revelation, they went straight to my heart:

“I know that you have but little power, and yet you have kept my word and have not denied my name.”

I did what God asked, even though, at times, I had little strength. I clung to Him. I did not deny His name.

I’ll never forget the first time I saw her. 💕

I’ll never forget the first time I saw her. 💕

Her red mane shone in the sun as I stood in the middle of a corral.

To this young teenager, I knew one thing as absolute fact. This horse and I were created for each other.

My friends running a ranch helped me overcome my biggest obstacle of convincing my dad to let me buy her. I spent over thirteen years with my horse, my best friend.

Perhaps the love we feel for animals is a small reflection of how Our God loves us.

The bond with animals exists to remind us of how much He loves us. 🐎 And the happiness I felt when my horse trotted to greet me with a welcoming snort, is just a small example of the joy God has when we run to Him.

Be it a horse, a dog, or even a hamster, a friendship between an animal and a person can change a life forever.

It was all in my attitude. I can question God abo

It was all in my attitude.

I can question God about what happens in my life. But, when I do it with irreverence, I experience spiritual debilitation. I suffer. My relationship with the Lord suffers.

I was convicted of my irreverence in this area. My result was a spiritual experience that was cynical and stagnant.

During a book study I did this spring, I decided that instead of me being offended and questioning the suffering in my life and others' lives, I chose to be comforted by the fact that God...

🔸 In His love, always wants what's best for us
🔸 In His wisdom, always knows what's best for us
🔸 In His sovereignty, has the POWER to bring it about

He says, "Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you." Hebrews 13:5b

God is trustworthy.

God is sovereign.

God is infinitely wise.

God has absolute rule over all His creation.

YES, I can trust that God is doing this for my good.

▶ ▶ Is the Lord walking with you through a hard season of your life? Will you lean into and trust in Him?

I read marriage books even before I got married, and I’ve read many more since we said our wedding vows! 💕

Some I borrow from the library and quietly return, and some I text pictures of to all my girlfriends, recommending they read them too.

Marriage is one of the greatest gifts and joys in this life, which means there is no shortage of opinions on how to do it right.
